Robert Adam was educated at the University of Cambridge, Edinburgh College of Art and the Slade, London. Carol Robertson studied fine art printmaking at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen and the Slade, where they met in 1986. Subsequently they both worked at Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop where they pioneered safer working practices and developed an extensive educational programme which was attended by artists from all over the world. They got married in 1994 and in 1998 they set up Graal Press to continue their research and educational work and collaborate with leading artists on creative projects.
